Amira Yaakoubi

Born in Tunisia in 1984,

She was rocked by the lights and mysteries of the medina of Tunis where she spent a large part of her adolescence.
From a young age, she wanted to travel the world, which she ended up doing by joining humanitarian organizations like Doctors without Borders. As a nomadic doctor, she saw the countries, rubbed shoulders with exciting colors and cultures, but also discovered the evils of this world which she considers with romance and a touch of humor.
Painter but also caricaturist, she has participated in several exhibitions in Tunisia and in environmental advocacy campaigns.

  • Group exhibition at the gallery el médina 2010
  • Selected in the Printemps des Arts de la Marsa 2011 competition
  • Various sensitivities to the Ken space / Tunisia April 2017
  • Personal exhibition Exit Motus in Paris 2020
  • Personal exhibition Ecce Eros in Tunis 2020
Some of her works were acquired by the Tunisian Ministry of Culture, many others actually figure in private collections in Tunisia, Paris and Copenhagen. Her artistic influences range from Antonio Gaudí to Gustave Klimt; she is also touched by the spirituality and the reflections found in Sufism.
She is committed to equality and in the struggle for freedom and access to the rights of minorities. Thus she dealt with the question of female existence, between eroticism, prohibition and revolution.
She has incorporated multiple techniques into her works: dry and oil pastels, calligraphy, acrylic and remains tempted by new experiences ...
